What is exterior PVC cladding?

 

PVC siding, or plastic siding, is made from polyvinyl chloride, a plastic widely used for siding and other cladding. Exterior PVC cladding comes in easy-to-install PVC strips, offering a beautiful finish and high resistance to impact and weather. 

Exterior PVC cladding offers a number of advantages, including excellent energy performance through enhanced insulation in both summer and winter, good soundproofing, good resistance and attractive finishes (wood, stone, colors, etc.). 

The disadvantages are linked to the nature of the material used. Since PVC cladding is plastic, the material is produced from petroleum, which is not very environmentally friendly. However, an increasing number of PVC cladding strips are produced from recycled plastic, limiting their ecological impact. 

How much does exterior PVC cladding cost?

 

There are different ranges of exterior PVC cladding, which justify a price per m2 that varies from €10 per m2 for inexpensive PVC cladding (entry-level products) to sometimes over €90 per m2 (for products with the best finish and performance).

Installation of PVC exterior cladding is fairly straightforward, costing between €150 and €190 per m2, not including the potential upstream work required on your facade. 

What kind of exterior insulation is needed with PVC cladding? 

 

Thanks to its plastic composition, PVC cladding is a high-performance insulator for facades. In winter, cold air ingress is greatly reduced, as is hot air ingress in summer. 

Exterior PVC cladding provides good insulation for your home, provided it isn't short-circuited by other air intakes. 

What effects and styles for PVC cladding?

 

PVC cladding can be vertical or horizontal, and comes in a variety of effects (imitation stone, imitation wood, etc.) and colors (white, charcoal gray, red, etc.). 

Because PVC siding is made of plastic, there are many design variations to give your facade a unique look.
